Sunday, March 17, 2013

This morning I got up before the alarm went off and did a few things.  After the alarm it was time to get ready for church.  Singing in the choir we need to be at church before 8:00 a.m.  Our director likes up in our seats by 8:00 a.m.  We practice until 9:30 or so.  Then we have some time off before church at 10:00.

Since Pastor Dave is retiring in two weeks, the Personnel Committee made a report that they have invited Don Houdeshell to be the interim pastor.  We know Don and it will be fun having him at our church.  Of course we won't be there much of the time he is there, since he won't begin until after we leave.

After church, we took Ellen and Pastor Dave to lunch.  We enjoy spending time together, and we wanted to spend a little more time with them before we leave and Pastor Dave leaves the church.
We ate at a little place called "Little Bit of Italy"  The food was really good.

When we got home, we changed clothes and headed out to run some errands.  When we got back we had facetime with Katie, Rob and Laurie.  What fun to watch Katie in her own environment.  She is really growing up to fast.  I can't wait to see her next month.

After our time with our Denver family, we headed out for a 5 miles bike ride around the park.

I have been needing to re-arrange some things in my closets, drawers, and shelves.  Then I re-arranged under the bed.  Once that was done, I sat down to relax.

Until Tomorrow

Saturday, March 16, 2013
Whoops another week gone by since I last posted.

Lets see I will try to catch up with where I left off.   Last Saturday night was the country western dance in Sun City West.  We rode with Cordell and Gaye and Janice and David met us there after the got out of church.  The dance was great, and we had a good time.  We practiced more on our AZ 2-step.  It is amazing that we didn't forget the basics.

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Our usual Sunday morning routine, Choir and then church.  This Sunday was a little different as it was new member Sunday.  We are sponsors for our friend Jan and Rory Mattson, who are also winter visitors.  They were joining the church as Associate Members just like us.  We are proud to be their sponsors.  After church Jan, Rory, and our friend Barb, and us went to lunch at JMichaels.  We had a great lunch/brunch.

Sunday afternoon we rode our bikes down to David and Janice's for them to catch us up on what we missed at AZ 2-step the past Tuesday night.  We learned a lot and I do believe we were caught up.  After our dance lessons we sat on their new deck and enjoyed time together.  David suggested he make omelets for dinner for all of us.  He is the best omelet maker I know.  So of course we said "YES".

Our usual bike ride. This time we had 52 people on the ride.  We rode to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then back again.  We rode about 14 miles.  It was a great ride.

Monday afternoon, we went to Cordell ( Cork) and Gaye house to practice AZ- 2 Step with them and Janice and David.  Janice and David have become our extra teachers, since they have had all this stuff before.  They know what they are doing.  Monday night was line dance class.  Since our Thursday class was cancelled, Harris has joined the Monday night class.

Happy Birthday Harris!!  That is what I said when Harris work up before we headed up for our 4 miles walk exercise program in the exercise room.  After breakfast,  I ran some errands prior before lunch.  Then off to AZ 2-step class at 1:00 p.m.  After dance class, I had invited Janice, David, Gaye, Cork (Cordell), Karma and Gary over to share cake and ice cream to celebrate Harris birthday.  It was really fun to have friends around to celebrate his birthday.

It was then time to head to "Top Shelf" Mexican restaurant to meet Rick, Sharon, Chelle and Jacob for dinner to celebrate Harris birthday and Rick's birthday two days later.  The meal was really good and the company was even better.

Kick boxing at exercise class.  This is my favorite day at exercise class.  We decided not to go on the 24 mile bike ride this morning as we both had to  many things to do.  I wanted to go to the the ballroom to check out the preview of the shows next year, with Janice, Gaye, Margie and Joyce.  After the preview, I walked down to Janice and Davids to meet Janice's mom.  Then back to the camper to get some things done around there.  Since the weather is getting warm here, I needed to change my closet from warmer clothes to cooler clothes.  I still have several other things I need to do around here.

At 3:30 we headed to Cork and Gaye's to practice "West Coast Swing" with Janice and David, and Cork and Gaye's before our class that night.  Since we missed the class the night before, we needed practice.

We picked up everyone around 5:30 and headed off to class.  What a rough class, but  we made it though.  We only have 2 more classes left.

Thursday, March 14, 2013

Happy Birthday Rick.  This is a very busy day!!   At 8:30, I picked Ann up for our PEO meeting. After the meeting, it was back home.  Ann had a baseball game, and I had  went up to the pool for the Going away party and Volunteer party, where we met Janice and David.  The band "II Chance" a great country band, played for the celebration.  They are a great country band.  We even had a chance to do the AZ 2 step.  Lunch was hamburger or hot dog, potato salad, and a great black bean, corn salad, tea or lemonade.  The meal was really good and the music was the best.

Thursday afternoon, we were suppose to go to Cork and Gaye's to meet their friends from Michigan, but the plane they were suppose arrive on was cancelled, so they had to take a later one.  So they arrived at the time we were all suppose to be gathering.  Since we had a large lunch, we decided to have cheese, crackers, and salami, with David and Janice.

Exercise again this morning.  After exercise, we took the laundry to the laundry room.  Once the laundry was done it was back home for lunch.  Harris spent the day doing the taxes.  Yep it is that time of the year again.  When he does the taxes, I like to be gone from the house.

Chelle has been on vacation all week, so we had planned to spend some time together on Friday.  I invited her to come over round noon.  I had a surprise for her.  She spent the week moving into the third bedroom at Jacob's house, so I thought she deserved a little pampering.  She and I had lunch at Subway and then went to our 2:00 p.m. appointment for a Mani and pedi.  What a fun time we had together.

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Well this brings us to day!!  Thing morning we got up and walked about 2 miles around the park.  When we got home we sat outside to have our coffee before showering and having breakfast.  It was so beautiful today.   It was back to the taxes for Harris.  I headed out for a bike ride, (to nice to stay inside).  I didn't make it to far on my ride as I stopped to talk to several people in the park on my way.  When I got back to the camper, my neighbors were out , so I joined them for some conversation.  It was then time for a little lunch (cheese and crackers), before time to go watch the St. Patrick's Day Parade here at the park.

St Patrick's day parade here at paradise is really fun.  Each of the groups in the park can be in the parade.  Many of the groups decorate their golf carts, etc.  Our bike group also rode in the parade.  We decided not to ride in the parade as you can't watch it.  Many of our bike group did ride in the parade.  The clown club here also were in the parade.  What fun.  After the parade we headed to the pool area where there was a barbeque.  Gaye had reserved a table for our group.  (there were 12 of us).  The meal was really good.  We had brisket, corn bread, Cole slaw, and beans.  They also had beer in green cups.
Our pool before the parade
The band this time was the encores who plan a lot of "big band" music.

It was a beautiful day to be outside.  When we were done, Gaye and Cork had invited everyone over to their house to sit on the patio.  We off we went up there.  We headed home shortly after dark, since we had our bikes, and we don't have lights on them, we needed to get back home.

Saturday, March 9, 2013

Another cloudy and rainy day in Sun City.  It began to rain again early in the evening, and even had a bit of hail.  The rain continued for a good part of the night.  It was wet when we got up this morning.  The weather people said it was not going to rain today, but when we left the camper to go up to the ballroom for "Shoppers Paradise" (once a month craft sale), it was raining.  So much for no more rain.  By the time we were ready to walk out home, it was not raining, but the clouds continued.  It has been a cool, cloudy day all day.

This afternoon we went down to David and Janice's for a little while, then home again.  Tonight we are going to a country western dance with Cordell and Gaye.  Janice and David will join us at the dance after their worship service.

The dance will give us a chance to practice our AZ 2-Step.  Since we missed class this past week, we sure do need practice.

All in all it will be a lot of fun.

Until tomorrow

Miss Daisy
Driving "Miss Daisy", AKA Ann Kennally to PEO.  I picked up Daisy the clown for our PEO meeting around 8:30.  We had two others to pick up before getting to our meeting.  Daisy the Clown was our program.  What fun it was to drive a clown around town.

Thursday afternoon, was line dance class.  Thursday evening we went to dinner at church.  After dinner we invited Jan, Rory, Barb, Ann and Gary over to the house for a drink.  What fun to have them at our house.

Luckily we were all packed and ready to go the next morning.

Friday, March 1, 2013

We were picked up by Super Shuttle around 10:30 a.m. to go to the airport so we could fly to Austin, TX.  Once we arrived in Austin, we got our rental car and drove to Lynne and Steve Myers house where we were spending the weekend.  Lynne had dinner ready for us, since we arrived right a dinner time.

Saturday, March 2,

After breakfast we decided to head to Groene (Green) to check out the little shops and have lunch.  The picture above was taken at the Grist Mill where we had lunch.  Saturday night we had dinner at the "Salt Lick" at very popular barbecue place.  We waited for an hour and half for a table.  Yep! the food was worth the wait.

Sunday, March 3,

The four of us headed to church where a Paul Parsons, a friend of ours, is the interim pastor.  Since Paul was preaching at the contemporary service we went to hear him preach.  Then out to lunch with Lynne and Steve.

After lunch, Harris and I headed to the Embassy Inn Central, where we were staying for the Pre-retirement seminar that would be held at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary on Monday and Tuesday.  Once we had checked into our hotel, we went over to the Seminary to set up for our seminar.  We picked Rod up at his hotel and went to dinner at the Texas Steak house across the street from our hotel.

Monday, March 4

We headed to Austin Seminary for to finish setting up prior to our participants arriving.  What a wonderful group we had.  There 28 participants.  This was the first time we had so many people we knew ahead of time.  Lynne and Steve, and Paul Parsons were there.  Plus another interim we have had in interim education.  This group was a lot of fun.  They laughed a lot.

Monday night Rod, Harris and I went to dinner at Papadeaux restaurant for seafood.

Tuesday, March 5

Our last day of the seminar.  After our seminar we went to dinner with Lynne and Steve again.  Rod had a sister who lives in the area, and he went to be with her and her husband.

Wednesday March 6,

Our flight was not until later in the afternoon so we were able to sleep in and have a leisure breakfast.  After breakfast Paul Parson came over to see us at the hotel.  Then we headed to the airport.  The trip home was uneventful.  It was really good to be back at home.  I am really thankful for super shuttle.  It is so nice to get picked up right outside the airport and dropped off right at home.
